Welcome to our blog...our journey on building a house (Waverly) with Ryan Homes. 

We met in December 2004, married in June 2008, had a daughter in November 2009, and had a son in November 2012.  Somewhere between kid #1 and #2, we found the time to build a house.  We decided to build a house in March 2011, broke ground on June 1, 2011 and 90 days later the house was finished and we moved in on September 7, 2011. 

Prior to moving, we lived in a 100+ year old beautiful well-kept Victorian house conveniently located outside of Pittsburgh (west of the city).  We love Pittsburgh and spend a lot of time going into the city for entertainment (Steelers, Bucs, Pens, fine dining, concerts, symphony, etc.), so keeping the convenience in/out of the city is very important. Also, we travel a lot (work and leisure) so it is very important that we have easy access to/from the airport.  It felt like we looked at every property (existing/new) around the city before we finally found the right plan, lot, and builder; so we decided to build a house vs. purchasing an existing house.
