SERVICE REQUEST #1 (myryanhome.com)

We made our first service request via that RH website (http://myryanhome.com/ServiceRequest.aspx).

The door knob on the door between the garage and laundry room fell apart.  At first the lock stopped working and then the handle on the garage side fell off.  We placed the service request and received a call from RH the next day.  The RH service rep. will be here tomorrow morning to fix it.

Then tonight we noticed that in our family room the tape on the seam where the ceiling meets the slope is coming down. We know of one other blogger having the same problem.  Is there any other bloggers having the same problem?  We will ask the RH service rep. to look at it tomorrow, but I'm sure we will have to place another service request to get it fixed.

We still have a few outstanding items from our 30 day post-settlement that need to be completed. One of the issues is the french door to the study is bowed and we are waiting for a replacement door.  We have been told several times that it has been ordered and it should be here soon.  It is so frustrating because we plan to have the family Christmas party on the 18th and hope everything is fixed by then.

With the holiday season underway, we have been busy with all that goes along with that.  Also, I (HW) returned back to the work force after being off for the past 10 months and my hubby (WW) started traveling again for work.  So we haven't had much time to keep up with the blog, but every once in awhile we take a peak at what everyone is up to.  There are so many new RH e-neighbors that we want to shout out a huge "Welcome" to and so many of the RH e-neighbors have closed on their homes that we want to tell "Congrats" and for the RH e-neighbors that are still in the building process...be patient, its sooooo worth the wait to make sure it is done right the first time.

Well its a busy night in Pittsburgh...we are trying to watch the Steelers and the Penguin game at that same time.  Talk about multi-tasking at its finest.

We have been in our house for 13 months. I can not list for you how many things have had to be repaired. As for that tape seam, all of our ceiling drywall had to be redone. So did at least 200 nail pops throughout the house. We have also had the broken doorknobs, broken doors, broken cabinets, non working electrical. I could go on and on. It all gets taken care of but we are still in that process.

how does that process work? I assume you have to be home and let them in--are they flexible? do they only come a certain number of times or for a certain types of problems?

Hey HW!

Nobody will notice the minor imperfections in your home when they are over for christmas. They will be too busy looking at how gorgeous it is to see bowed doors or bubbled drywall tape. I hope you get it fixed soon, but don't let it ruin your parties!

Its SO difficult to settle in to a new home when work keeps you from nesting. I've been struggling with that; a week off when we moved in then back to the grind and too much to do to hang pictures and make the house comfy. Its getting there tho. I'm glad you had some time at home to nest before things got busy again for you.

REF - for us, my BF has a very flexible schedule and can work from home, so he takes a lot of the service calls. When we can't be here, we have arranged with the PM to be here but I think that's only happened once so far. They are pretty flexible, but sometimes its like waiting for the cable guy....

We have not had that issue but we have had a few service calls. Our most recent one was to have the doors to the office and the top of the basement stairs adjusted because they no longer securely latched. We had the same issue with our master double doors at the 30 day - it's just something that happens during settling. We have lots of nail pops (especially in the stair ways) and a few baseboards in the finished basement that have cracked during settling...no service call for those though, just waiting on the final inspection that happens between 9 and 12 months.

I am home during the day so scheduling has not been much of an issue. They usually give a pretty accurate arrival time so it's not like you have to be home all day waiting.

It's hard to believe that its been 2 months since I seriously looked at the blogs. We haven't really seen any nail pops but our drywall was put up with all screws. We had a couple of seams that were cracking and 3 different drywall issues...poor installation...all of that was taken care of at the 30 day.
