A mailbox in a box! There's gotta be a joke in there somewhere.
OHHH! Are the casement windows in the back of the house standard or did you somehow upgrade those? (ones that open like a door)
@SCJ - LOL
@WodyJ - The casement windows above the morning room are standard. Why do you ask?
Looks Great!!!
Wow, everything looks beautiful! Love the view of the family room from upstairs, and the staircase is going to be so grand looking! Great choice in counter tops...that's what we got too, and I promise they will look even better once they are actually installed next to your cabinets!
Oh My!! I love it all!!! It's soooo pretty!! And your staircase curves!
Look at all those windows!! WOW!!! NICE!!
I can't believe that much brick is up already!
It is GORGEOUS!
It looks fantastic. It is funny how they do different things at different times. Your brick work and siding are just getting started, but your drywall is almost done and for us they are almost done the brick work and siding, but we are about a week away from starting our drywall.
Do you have a picture of the Spa Shower valve unit?
I love the detail on the sides of the stairs. We had no idea the steps would have that until we saw it when they installed them last week...another pleasant surprise and our PM said that there is still some more trim work that will be added to the stairs as well.
We have 2 standard casement windows at the corner of our kitchen where our sink is which is great since it would be impossible to open the windows if they weren't the casement type.
@BD - We forgot to take a picture of the Spa Shower valve unit after the drywall went up, but we plan to be out there on Saturday to meet a landscaper and we plan to take a picture at that time.
We added a picture to the post dated 07/14/2011 PRE-DRYWALL SUMMARY / SCHEDULED FINAL WALK-THRU and CLOSING (http://wilsonadventure1.blogspot.com/2011/07/pre-drywall-summary-scheduled-final.html). Let us know if this is helpful.
We were thinking the same thing when we read your blog. We thought it was a little odd that you had brick/siding prior to the pre-drywall meeting and ours was just the opposite. It made us wonder if our PM was dragging his feet, but we spoke with the PM and he is right on schedule...even during this heat wave. We feel for the PM and the worker bees to have to deal with the elements.
@Noey - We love the windows as well; however, we have nightmares on how we will keep them clean. But we wouldn't change a thing...we are going to soooo enjoy the light and the views. Especially the back windows that look out into the woods.
@Becky - Its nice to hear that someone else chose the same counter tops. We were admiring your counter tops in your pictures and didn't know they were the same. Eventually, we plan to replace them with granite; however, now we may keep then a little longer than planned.
By the way, love the colors in your laundry room. We are glad to hear that the move went well and that you are getting all settled in.
We look forward to seeing more pics and reading stories about you and your family enjoying your new home. Thanks for sharing.
BD and HW: I think as far as what gets done when (as far as cosmetics and not framing and rough trades), it's a matter of when they can get the contractors out to do the work. In some cases the contractors are busy finishing up another home, so they start later. In other cases, the Contractor may be free now, but not another week. Does that make sense?
@Noey - you are probably right. We just thought it was odd. Either way, the final product is a house...it doesn't matter how they get there.
Wow HW, they have really done a lot of work on your house the Brick looks great! I like that they put brick on the sides and back of your house at the bottom. That looks really good. To piggy back on what Becky said, that 2 story family room is really grand, i love it! Eveything looks so good. The trim on the steps looks great! I can't wait to see if ours has the same trim! :)
@ BD & HW, I think it depends on your neighborhood. They framed, then installed HVAC and layed the brick, then they did our drywall and I was informed that next week our siding will go up. Our PM told us when we started that they would put the siding up near the end. I forgot the reasons why...
I can't believe that these contractors have been getting all of this work done in this heat. It actually kind of scares me. Today I am at work (Washington, DC/Arlington VA area) and it is 99 degree's tomorrow and saturday it will be 101.:( But some how some way they have been keeping the progress rolling. :)
WHAT A BEAUTY!!! THANKS for sharing the pictures.
