So much for not changing our minds...

Today was another productive day and not just on the new house.  We started our morning by getting a well overdue family picture.  We can't believe that it has already been 17 months (today) that we were blessed with our beautiful daughter.  So before things get real crazy with selling/building a house; we figured we would take a few moments together to get a professional picture taken.

Also, we took advantage of the warmer weather to catch up on some yard work at our current house.  We have so much to do before we can place the house on the market; however, regardless of what happens - May 1st is our deadline to get the house listed.  So we will be spending every waking moment (except for when we are catching up on the blogs ;-) ) to get the current house in order.

Now in between getting pictures taken and catching up on yard work; we found a way to squeeze in some time to drive around a few neighborhoods to look at the exterior of a few houses.  This prompted us to think about making some changes to our selections: vinyl siding - darker gray and shutters - black.

Also, we discussed some the following:

Hardwood floors
To save some money, we discussed changing the hardwood floors to the standard vinyl flooring, which is included in the price of our house; and after closing we would upgrade to hardwood.  We already have a contractor who installed the hardwood floors in the kitchen of our current house and would just need to price out buying the hardwood floors ourselves.  However, this is still in the discussion stage.

Porch roof / bay windows
We noticed different looks on the porch roof and the top of the bay windows.  Can anyone give us more information on this - what is the included? what are the options/upgrades?

Keystone above the windows
We noticed that some of the windows reflect keystone.  Does anyone know off hand if this is included or an upgrade?

Custom bath tub in Owner's Suite bathroom:
Neither of us really like the boxed in tub that comes with the house.  We really like our clawfoot tub in our current house and would like to take this look with us to our new house.  However, this one will be a whirlpool jetted tub.  We are going to visit a model house this week to take the dimensions to see if the clawfoot tub fits and then we will follow-up with Ryan Homes to see if they are able to accommodate our request for a reasonable cost.  I will keep you posted.

Well that is all for tonight....I need to catch up on some much needed sleep.

We have the decorative keystone above the windows and it was not an upgrade. You might just want to check and be sure the same is true on your model.
We did the vinyl flooring, too and intend to uprade it to hardwood in the next year or so. I really thought I was going to hate the vinyl. While I don't love it, I don't hate it either. It will do until we are able to get the hardwood.

That's great, you guys accomplished so much today! We are almost finished with finalizing our selections on the house, next on the list is CTI and then looking for a rental company to manage our current home once we relocate. I'm sure we will have a long list of things to spruce up in here, so that we will not have any problems finding renters.

Anyways we plan to use the Vinyl in the morning room, kitchen, mud room and our guest bathrooms, I hope we see something we like. The vinyl I saw in the model home looked really good, I had to tap my foot on it to see if it was tile!

Okay, I'm not each with the names of things. Since we have all vinyl siding I'm not sure if the thing is above our windows are considered keystone. If so then its not an upgrade. Look at your color selection picture, what is above your windows in the picture will be on your house. Congrats on productive day.

I'm not sure about the keystone windows because we will have a partial stone front. The porch and roof comes with Elevation D on the waverly and it has the black roof that is pictured included. We did not have any upgrades or options for this on our pricing sheet, but I'm sure that they could work out a price for you if there is something specific you want to change.

I don't know about the keystone windows, but hubby and I decided to keep all the flooring basic. My husband use to sell flooring and is very knowledgeable in this area so he handled the meeting with Creative Designs.

He asked them a bunch of questions about the upgrading flooring options and we could clearly tell the design rep was a little surprised on how much he knew...lol. In the end, we decided not to upgrade the floors. We'll wait a year or two and put in our own tile and hardwood. This is also a plus for us because they have these awesome home auctions here in the Carolina's, you can get just about anything including cases of flooring for dirt cheap!

That tub is beautiful! I hope they allow you to add it.

Our model comes with the keystones because of the elevation we picked. (I never knew what those were called!)

If you have any questions, it doesn't hurt to ask your PM or Rep.

On another note: I LOVE your blog colors! It's my favorite color! =)

Thanks everyone for your feedback. There is so much to know when you are building a house. We plan to meet with our Sales Rep this week to discuss some of our issues.
