GOOD NOTES

Recently there have been several discussions regarding during the selection process that you make sure that you review the "Option List" with the RH sales rep. and to meet with the RH sales rep. at the model (preferably a model of your floor plan) to confirm what is standard and what is an upgrade.  We would also like to point out that it is just as important to take good notes and make sure that you confirm any questionable issues with the RH sales rep.  Even if it means typing up an email and sending it to the RH sales rep. and/or the PM (if necessary). 

If anyone knows me (HW), I am obsessed with note taking and very proud of it.  I never went to one meeting without a camera and my binder full of notes, pictures, change order, etc.  After each meeting, I would type up notes regarding what was discussed and made a list of any follow-up and/or outstanding items.  Within a few days, if I didn't hear back from RH, I would continue to follow-up until the issue was resolved. 

Our notes have helped us tremendously throughout the building process.  It is hard enough for us to keep everything straight, we can't imagine how difficult it is for the RH sales rep. and PM; especially when they are building numerous houses at one time.  As we submit change orders the original paperwork may not get updated right away so that may cause a problem because the changes may not get relayed to the PM right away and the PM will build based on what is delivered.  We believe that we are just as responsible for making sure everything is correct.  

For instance, when we saw the hardware on the cabinets, something just didn't seem right.  Sure enough when we looked back at our notes, the "Master Selection Sheet" originally reflected brush nickel for the light fixtures and cabinet hardware; however, prior to the pre-construction meeting we changed it to bronze.  We notified our PM, who took care of the issue right away.
